The Brief

Brands want to analyse the impact of Revo shoppable videos for them and make business decisions basis the same. This dashboard will help visualise the performance of shoppable videos to enable brands to analyse it.

Project Overview

This project held immense priority and required rapid deployment. Our initial release aimed to seamlessly extend the analytics capabilities from our desktop app to the mobile application, incorporating enhancements gathered from user feedback on the desktop version.

Simplicity was key, allowing us to swiftly launch a version and iterate based on valuable insights. Given the tight timeline, this approach proved optimal.

For a comprehensive overview of the research and analysis conducted for this project, please refer to the Craft Doc.

Key User Objectives

  1. Brands want to understand the impact of shoppable videos on their website.

    • Brands measure impact by the sales and engagement generated by shoppable videos.

    • They want to understand the uptick in conversion from the shoppable videos.

  2. Brands want to gain meaningful insights about shoppable videos that helps them make business decisions. Key decisions are:

    • Which page with shoppable videos is performing the best?

    • Which shoppable videos are performing the best?

    • Which products are being sold the most via shoppable videos?

    • What does my user funnel look like? Where is the maximum leakage happening?

Information Architecture

To begin, I conducted a comprehensive analysis of our web analytics version. While the web version utilized a single page to present all the information, it was clear that this approach wouldn't suffice for the mobile counterpart. Collaborating closely with my Product Manager, I took the initiative to devise the Information Architecture specifically tailored for the mobile version.

Design Language

In our mobile and web versions, we currently employ Material UI 2 as our design framework. However, we are on the brink of transitioning to the exciting Material You design system. With this transition in mind, we made the decision to leverage some of the Material You components to expedite the design process.

To ensure a seamless transition to the new design guidelines, we engaged in discussions with our tech team. As a result, we opted for a minimal color palette, carefully selecting fewer shades to maintain simplicity and facilitate a smoother transition.

The Application Filters

In our platform, we offer three primary methods for content filtering: date-based filtering, shopping flow redirection, and video filtering. Through insights gathered from our web app, we discovered that the date filter was the most frequently utilized parameter by users.

Taking this valuable insight into consideration, I crafted a user-friendly filter design that prioritizes easy access to the date filter while concealing the remaining options within a dedicated "Filters" button. This approach ensures seamless usability, allowing users to swiftly navigate and discover relevant content.

I dedicated three days to prototyping essential error cases for all filter types. Given its vital role as a core component used across numerous screens in the analytics platform, this meticulous effort established a solid foundation for seamless filtering throughout the application.

The Home Screen

The analytics section's home screen presents users with a comprehensive overview of key metrics, allowing for quick and easy access to essential information. As the main screen, it serves as the central hub, providing convenient links to all other sections within the application.

The Sales, Engagement & Conversion Screens

The sales, engagement, and conversion screens exhibit a similar structure, primarily comprising charts that visualize the corresponding metrics for each section. These dedicated sections provide a focused and comprehensive view of the metrics relevant to their respective areas.

The Products & Videos Performance Screens

Overall Screens

Here we I have arranged some of the key screens of the project.

Prototype

I developed a comprehensive prototype that showcased all interactions, including error states and animations, in complete detail. This prototype was instrumental in gathering feedback from key stakeholders, including the CEO, CTO, and Product Lead, ensuring that their insights and perspectives were incorporated into the final design.

End to End Flow

For the developer handoff I created a detailed end-to-end flow for the analytics screens, taking into account various scenarios, error messages, and implementing loading and animations where necessary. This comprehensive approach ensures a seamless user experience, addressing potential issues and delivering a visually engaging interface at every step.

Project Update

Development for these screens concluded in mid-April. Feedback for the project was mixed, with some users appreciating the comprehensive video analysis, while others preferred bite-sized information for recent work.

Key pain points identified in this version of mobile analytics include:

  • Excessive clicks required to access detailed reports for individual videos.

  • Lack of visibility for popular or trending videos on the home screen.

  • Inability to view products added within shopable videos in the detailed reports.

Based on user feedback, several key improvements have been identified for the next version of these screens. While I was occupied with another project, another designer has taken over and is implementing the following enhancements:

  • Adopting the Material You design system.

  • Introducing a new section on the home screen to showcase quick wins.

  • Redesigning the charts on the home screen, among other updates.

While the updated screens primarily focus on redesigning the homescreen, the overall user experience remains largely unchanged for most other screens. The main modification involves updating the existing screens to align with the new Material You design theme, ensuring a cohesive and visually pleasing interface throughout the application.

Learnings

  • In this project, time management was crucial. Given our tight deadline of approximately two weeks, it was imperative to make certain compromises in the design process to ensure timely completion.

  • We cannot just keep on delaying our work just to design the perfect design, it doesn’t exist. We have to adapt out process according to the timeline for the project.

Thank You

Hope you liked the project.
